Natasha Wolan

Natasha graduated from Monash University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Criminology). Since her admission to practice in 2010, Natasha has practised exclusively in criminal law. In 2014 Natasha successfully completed the Law Institute of Victoria’s Criminal Specialisation Program and is recognised as an LIV Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law.

Natasha is a highly experienced advocate, appearing as a solicitor-advocate daily and has developed a formidable knowledge of criminal law, criminal procedure and evidentiary rules associated with both adult and youth summary and indictable crime. She has considerable appellate jurisdiction experience, including appearing successfully in Supreme Court bail applications and instructing in a successful appeal to the High Court regarding human rights law. Natasha has extensive experience instructing counsel in complex criminal trials including homicides, commercial drug trafficking, and sexual offences. Throughout her diverse career Natasha has cultivated strong professional relationships with senior members of the Victorian Bar working collaboratively with counsel to achieve the best results for clients.

Natasha also has extensive experience in appearing in personal safety and family violence intervention orders, including specialist family violence courts, and has built a strong reputation for her compassionate and holistic lawyering.

Natasha has vast experience in appearing for clients in the Therapeutic Courts space including ARC, Drug Court, Koori Court and the Collingwood Neighbourhood Justice Centre with marked success in achieving the best court outcomes for clients in matters of great complexity.

Natasha is passionate about human rights and providing access to justice for disadvantaged members of the community and has pursued same previously with senior positions within Fitzroy Legal Service and Victoria Legal Aid. Natasha has developed important relationships with community services and stakeholders to obtain better results and reduce recidivism among her clients. Natasha also believes that community legal education is vital to ensure that culturally and linguistically diverse communities can access legal information, access justice and understand their rights.
